I don't think it really matters, to be honest. The data rates aren't
really high enough to make much difference. For a labour-free job
consider a pair of 9-pin D to RJ45 adaptors that are readily available.
The ones I used came with terminated wires from the RJ45 socket ready to
plug into the 9-pin D. I just connected them straight through (i.e.
1-1,2-2,....,8-8). Worked just fine for me.

Subject: [ukha_d] Extending rs232 over cat5

Hi, I need to extend some serial connections over cat5, and was
wondering if there is a standard I should follow. Im thinking the
cheapest way is to chop some cat5 patch leads and solder on some 9pin
connectors, but what pins should I connect from 9pin to cat5??

TIA

Craig
