I have stripped cable that way in past but not any longer.

Apart from numerous occasions when I have got bits of insulation stuck in
my
teeth, the final persuasion not to do it was when I stripped the end of a
bit of telephone cable.....

.... then found out it was connected to the telephone line !!!!!

If you thought a 9V battery gave your tounge a bit of a tickle, try 50V
:-(((

I was also unimpressed by a piece of bell wire I cut through once. I
thought
it was the other end of a speaker cable I was tracing especially as it just
had a chocolate block connector on the end. As I chopped through it and saw
the end of my cutters disappear in a flash and bang I realised it was
connected to mains somewhere. Never did find where, and although it blew a
fuse somewhere, nothing else seemed to stop working. Ah, the
"joys" of
trying to unravel someone elses bodged wiring attempts.
