Ok - a last update on eBay - definitely a minefield out there on these high
value items - a few people have contacted me offlist to say they have a
similar experience - the issue on the 'borrowed' accounts is the most
worrying as it underpins the eBay ratings & feedback that I have
previously
relied on. Be very wary of wiring any money particularly by Western Union
and particularly overseas especially Spain and Italy. Watch where you enter
your password and be very wary of clicking on links emailed back to you -
eg
the auction link for items you are bidding on.

Lastly - still not heard from eBay (US) but have just heard from eBay UK.
I
quote.

Hello,

Since eBay is an online company, we do not offer the option of phone

support at this time.

We also have "Help" sections on site that are packed with helpful

information and a FAQ section with answers to frequently asked

You can access our Help sections by going to the URL listed below. While
there you may want to try our Help search feature. This feature allows

you to type in your question and obtain a list of links that contain

I had asked someone to contact me by phone such that I could explain
what was happening here - it's a complex issue and some of it is legitimate
so I wanted to make sure they had all the relevant info - but they're
obviously not interested - my lead line was 'Fraud in progress (high
value)'
- can't get much more direct than that - they just don't care it seems.
