well, i have an NEC 42" plasma, and my friend has a 32" Sony LCD.
General observations:

1. The LCD is brighter, but the plasma is not far behind IMHO.
2. Both suffer from movement artifacting, but it is more noticeable
on the plasma (probably due to screen size more than anything else).
3. Both are of a similar thickness - the LCD is a little thinner,
but once mounted on the wall it's not noticeable.
4. Screen burn will be an issue with plasma, but you have to watch a
lot of (bad) TV (channels) for serious issues.
5. They cost roughly the same (plasma probably a little cheaper),
but the plasma is bigger - and very noticeably so.
6. The LCD looks tiny on a largish wall, as 32" is really not that
big.

In the end, look at a plasma next to an LCD (in a real shop!) and
decide. For the same price, the plasma is bigger, but the LCD is
brighter. You takes your choice...
