I don't know what sensors you plan to use Adam, but it is worth taking a
look at

http://www.sontay.com/shoptemplate/templates/pricelist_customer_specific.asp
?GroupGuid=211

These sensors are very discrete while remaining very effective. Bear in
mind
that they need to be fixed to something suitable with provision for cable
termination. You may even be able to buy just the housing rather than the
entire component and fit your own sensor element within it.

These thimble sensors are ideal for room temperature measurement as they
allow good airflow over the sensor element and when wall mounted they place
the element in free air away from the wall boundary.

Just one other thing regarding temperature sensor location - don't mount
them on ceilings or very high/low on the walls if you expect accurate
measurement for control applications. A good guideline would be somewhere
around existing switch height in most cases, and obviously avoid areas
above
radiators, in direct sun etc. It doesn't matter how sophisticated the
controls, they cannot operate effectively if the sensors are in poor
locations.

I'm looking for small, circular and slightly domed plastic enclosures,
approx 20mm or 30mm high at their heights point, and about 20mm or 30mm
radius. For a *really* bad drawing of the kind of thing I'm looking for,
take a look at http://www.the-firs.org/temp/

They need to be wall or ceiling mounted, and will be used to house various
sensors (temperature etc). I've tried all the usual (to me
anyway!) places to no avail - Does anyone know where I could lay my hand on
such a thing?

TIA,
A.
