It's Windows 2000 Professional.
I did some editing, capturing, writing to tape etc. yesterday and
everything was fine.
What a relief after two weeks of pain.

Which operating system are you using on the machine on which it
doesn't work? I have what sounds to be the same problem when using
the firewire on an windows 2000 box using a canon dv cam.
