I've done a couple of these for cars and it's been quite straight up. The
first one was £50 cash on entry and the last one was £70 cheque at the end.

It's quite fun, they ply you with drinks (soft) and sandwiches and cakes
etc
and you get to see mock-ups or videos of the manufacturers latest proposed
models which you then slag off while they watch you from a different room
via a video link.

I can't say that the Tivo one will be the same but I unless they insist you
go with partner etc I doubt it's timeshare.
