My current system boots the linux from a Win XP pc, as I don't have a 24/7
linux system running.
The downside is that you don't have a permanent file system (as I can't
find
a windows based NFS server that works like a true nfs system) so it works
in
ram disk. The plus side is that if something were to go wrong, a quick
reboot would restore the pc to it's original state.

Hopefully I can use a samba client to provide permanent storage on the win
xp pc.

The plan is it will do mp3, webcam, x10, web server, bar code reader etc
etc
(all xPL controlled of course)

Once it's ready for production I'm planning one for every major room.

Regards
Tony
