Oh.....bugger......

I can mount an external aerial but really did not want to due to
'aesthetics'. I also don't much like heights!

I wonder if you can get aerials that look like trees :-) But then a tree
sticking out the side of the barn would look just as bad I guess!!!

Many thanks

Rob Mouser

Hi Rob,

...Yes,

DONT get a loft mounted aerial.

You need a good signal for digital. The signal strength inside a loft is
about a tenth of that outside the loft.

If you are already in a weak signal area you are not going to get a good
signal. Amplification will only amplify the noise as well.

If you really dont want ( or cant have ) an aerial mounted on the
outside of
the barn, is there anywhere else you could mount one ? On a pole
somewhere
perhaps. That would allow you to have a high gain aerial to maximise
reception. Once you have a good signal you cna safely amplify it to
overcome
any losses in a long run to the barn.

Failing that, can you hide it behind a chimney or something. A loft
aerial
is unlikely to give you good results.

Keith
