I write because I am working with a couple of friends on a new mail
filtering application. Essentially, the program is based on Bayesian
artificial intelligence algorithms, works under Outlook 2000/XP and
can be trained by the user to filter mail based upon their own
personal likes and dislikes.
The beta/first release provides two categories of filtering, Junk and
Ok. Junk is for everything you don't want in your inbox and Ok, is
well, for stuff you do want to read. Our proposition is that Junk is
what the user says it is, and is not based upon spam rules set out by
some commercial organisation. As spammers change their tactics our
software learns and so remains effective without having to update
complex rules etc, etc.
We are coding r2 at the moment (I'm looking for a first alpha end of
next week) and it provides up to ten categories. We think the 10
category app would be a boon since it would enable someone, for
example, to filter work stuff from leisure etc. In terms of a forum
such as ukha_d, it would be able to record threads by content not by
subject or the other rudimentary tools provided by Outlook.
We plan to provide the first release for free to home users and
charities and charge companies.
In order to get the first release through beta I'd like to get a
number of technically savvie people to trial it and thought that
subscribers to the ukha_d might fit the bill.
What I can offer for the beta testers is a free version of the 10
category tool (they'll be able to have the r1 for free anyway).
If you are interesting in taking part then please email me off list
and I will provide more information plus download details.
Anyway, thanks for your time and thanks to Mark for letting me use
this forum for what is essentially an ad.
Regards
Martin
