RE: UKHA 2003 - How about a Tivo Upgrade area

Tom this sounds like a good idea and I'm interested.

If I did decide to go ahead, I'd be prepared to accept responsibility for my
own TiVo dying after installation, based on the fact that whoever does the
install will be far more competent than me.

While we're on UKHA2003 suggestions, what about some sort of 'cabling
group'? ie - a way that we can find out who lives in our area (ish) - maybe
we can help each other out with our individual expertise and pull cables,
build servers, etc for each other.

Just 1/2p.

Hi guys

I'm coming down to the UKHA event in May - and really looking forward
to it!

I was thinking that a Tivo hard drive upgrade area would be a useful
addition to the event.

If someone has the equipment to perform the upgrade, and individuals
bring their Tivos and a new hard drive then I would imagine that
Tivos could be upgraded relatively quickly compared to each person
figuring out how to do it at home (and the risk of damaging their
beloved Tivo due to inexperience!)

I'd be willing to pay for such a service! (or a donation to the event
funds!)

Of course this is subject to someone volunteering to perform the
upgrades, demand from users and the agreement that if the Tivo breaks
there is no liability on the person doing the upgrade.

I've passed this idea to Mark McCall and he suggested I get the
opinion from the group.

To gauge whether this is something worth pursuing we need an idea of

1) Are you interested in being able to get your Tivo upgraded at UKHA?
or
2) Would you like to volunteer to perform/supervise a Tivo upgrade
process?

Thanks

Tom
