just a small point but my loftbox put out the 9 volt to power the IR
extender.
as i don't currently have it turn on my sky box.
so that but may be a bit misleading
thanks james

Subject: [ukha_d] Loftbox problem....
Hi peeps.
Can anyone with a loftbox sanity-check what I reckon must be a faulty unit,
just in case I'm having a blonde moment....
My loftbox seems not to be giving me anything watchable on it's outputs...
The other day, I started hooking up the CT100 runs to various other rooms
to
the loftbox outputs. Previously, I'd only been feeding the lounge via the
double-gang multi service wallplate...
I have the terrestrial TV aerial , an FM aerial, and one of the Sky LNB's
all going to the appropriate inputs on the loftbox, and all seems fine...
The digibox reports good signal level on both LNB inputs (one goes direct
to
the digibox, one goes via the loftbox) - incidentally, I did a signal level
check before I installed the loftbox with both LNB's connected directly -
one was showing a stronger signal level, so I decided to use that one for
the loftbox, on the basis that I reckoned there might be some signal loss
introduced by inserting the loftbox, and I was right! - after adding the
loftbox the signal levels now show as the same...
The feed up to the lounge - taken from the "living room" output
also seems
OK... no problems with any of the devices there - good signal on FM and
terrestrial...
However, I hooked up the kitchen TV to one of the room outputs, using the
appropriate diplexing wallplate, and I get naff all signal... I can _just
about_ make out a recogniseable image, - it's about what one would expect
if
just a short length of wire was plugged in to the aerial socket! - I can
also just about make out the sky EPG from the digibox as well... That TV
also has a handy-link IR extender on it, and that *IS* powered (the LED is
on), so it is getting power from the digibox's RF2 output - which also goes
through the loftbox via the multiservice wallplate in the lounge, also the
IR does appear to be working as well, as I can just about make out the
response in the EPG screen as I use the sky remote in the kitchen. I've
tried connecting the TV to all 4 of the room outputs, which makes no
difference... I've also removed the handy-link from the equation just in
case, - this also makes no difference. As a test, I connected the TV to the
"Living Room" output on the loftbox, and this gives me a much
better
(although still a bit ropey!) image - obviously no sky digibox signal is
available from that output though, but I ran an autotune on the TV, and it
did find all the terrestrial channels. From this test, I think I can at
least deduce that my coax run to the kitchen, and the diplex plate in the
kitchen must be OK? Lastly, I've obviously checked that the loftbox is
powered - and it is!
Have I missed something fundamental, or have I got a faulty unit?
TIA
Paul G.
