In my experience it depends on length, and where the cables run.  I have a
cam at our back door on CAT5 - it only has maybe 7 metres to run to Node 0
and the picture is fine.  The camera at the front door is also CAT5 but
more
like a 20 metre run and it looks terrible.  If you must use CAT5 for long
runs then look at www.kat5.com
