RE: Re: Help me with my new flat shopping list
Totally agree with Patrick on this one, exactly the same happened to a
friend of mine.
The bought a Plasma dirt cheap from a seller in Germany, took a couple of
days off to go collect it,
but strangely the seller went very quiet...

Be very, very cautious buying high value, leading edge electronic
goods from e-Bay. There are a *lot* of scammers out there, and e-bay
has little or no interest in policing their auctions, so far as I can
see. My cousin, for example, recently won an auction for a panasonic
plasma. As soon as he started making arrangements to collect, rather
than ship, the seller disappeared off the face of the earth.
Fundamental advice: Insist on meeting face-to-face, however
inconvenient, and see the goods in action. Also, remember that most
plasmas require specialist packing (they are huge glass sheets) and
specialist transport (usually the requirement is to keep them
vertical). Personally I wouldn't bother - there are plenty of good
deals to be had by shopping around from reputable suppliers, and ebay
isn't worth the hassle or the risk for this kind of purchase.
