[ukha_d] Tivo vs Sky+
.
Category:
Sorry to bring this old chestnut up again, I'm a fairly happy Tivo user
considering switching for the following reasons:
1. Getting fed up of the occasional incorrect channel being recorded
due to the LED being slightly less than 100% reliable.
2. Increasingly I want to watch/record from more than one sky channel
(and sky+ now records from both tuners right?)
3. The video output on my Tivo box occasionally screws up and I have to
reboot, and it's looking increasingly like I'm NOT going to get an
opportunity to use this as an excuse to upgrade it to a better model,
EVER.
Question is, how much am I going to miss Tivo if I do this, more
specifically
1. how good is the Sky+ equivalent of season pass, can it cope with
(for instance) an extra episode of coronation street being snuck in at
8:30
It's reliant on the broadcasters doing the series links - check out
www.plusworld.co.uk for an article
2. Can you specify extra time before/after recordings, if so is this
per program or systemwide?
yes, in minutes at the start and end
3. How far ahead does the program guide go.
7 days eps
4. Does it always keep the last half hour so you can rewind on a live
broadcast?, if so how does this work with the two tuners?
Up to an hour (configurable) - you can also now save the program in the
live buffer to record and continue recording from there.
Any other comments from Sky+ users, (or people with experience of both)?
Cheers
Alan Shields
