Remote shutting down, even scheduled remote shutting down is possible
using various bits of free or cheap software as well as of course
Steve's script. However you could consider leaving the PC turned on
and putting the monitor (and may be other peripherals) on an X10
module. That way you could turn off the stuff that is probably
consuming most power without constantly turning the PC on and off
which is not good for their health.
