I assume, therefore that "quality" isn't a requirement.

I would have said that something like a Rotel RA-931 amp (which=20
supports two pairs of speakers) would just work.

Alternatively, something like a Pioneer A400 would do the job very=20
nicely. You can pick those up at "buy it now" prices for ~=A380
on=20
ebay. Only got one set of speaker terminals, but it's a good beast,=20
and will support two pairs of speakers in parallel provided you don't=20
want to go too loud.

As for speakers, "bookshelf-style" is what you want. Mission
760s=20
would do the job nicely.

I would be tempted to go into the local hi-fi dealer, and ask if he's=20
had anything traded in that you could take off his hands. If you buy=20
through a BADA dealer, then you get a few days to test and make sure=20
it all works, even on second-hand stuff.
