If you've got MS SQL anywhere, you could use DTS to connect to Oracle.

Failing that, would it be any quicker to write the results to a CSV
formatted text file and then import to Excel ?

I've only driven Excel on a cell by cell basis for a few thousand rows and
that was slow :-(
