The NXT speakers have a 'different' sound to conventional speakers which
most people tend to find is OK for ambient background music but not as
comfortable or enjoyable as conventional or sub/sat set ups for a main
system.

Diffuse, disperse and directionless are the way they describe them in the
Farnell link and that sums it up, they tend to sound rather hollow.

Both NXT and sub/sat systems like the Bose mentioned above will need a bass
unit to produce the lower frequencies, after that it's about making a
subjective decision about quality and finding the right compromise between
looks and performance. For my money the Bose (or KEF eggs or JM Labs Sib
&
Cub) will sound much better than the NXT speakers and are pretty discrete
providing you can hide the bass unit somewhere, but if the look of the
picture frame units is more critical for you then go that route and accept
that there's a compromise on the sound quality.

Bose 15;s Mk2 (or is it Mk3 now ) ... anyhow they are very small

Don't have any myself, and they are either love or loath from what i
gather,
but I would imagine SQ would be higher than the picture frames?

Dean,

Re: your centre speaker, NXT Acoustic Picture Panels may be what you're
after:
This one's a bit small,

gory%5Fname=&product%5Fid=252855
These are bigger

Haven't heard these speakers so can't vouch for quality.
