hi, yes it was rather sweeping. but i still think it is valid for
*critical*
automation tasks (which to me includes lighting!)
i would agree that for a simple starter system then x10 is the way to go,
or
for easy retrofit then again it has its place. but , for a complete 'smart
home' solution, then systems such as clipsal make a lot more sense. the
reason i say this is 2 fold
1] cost - x10 in the uk is as we all know very expensive for all of the
reasons we have discussed. x10 'feels' cheaper because you can buy it a
module at a time, but add up modules, controllers etc and the costs soon
build up.
2] status enquiry/signal interference issues - these are just not an issue
with the dedicated systems

i hear what your saying about planning etc, and it is a valid point. i
presume this would involve the use if filters etc? which i guess is another
point, the more automation you have, all with power supplies etc, then the
more issues that you have to deal with, again making it more suitable for
small projects!
