RE: Air Con

There are plenty of ducted indoor units where the only thing seen from the
room is the duct grill, but you also need to make sure that the hidden unit
is plenty accessible for maintenance ie you could easily remove the unit
completely if necessary. These units can usually support a number of ducts
so you could run more than one room from a single indoor unit. Obviously
only one area has temperature control, but it can cheaper. This hidden unit
is the best option generally for bedrooms as the fan noise is kept to a
minimum - it's no use been able to keep the bedroom cool if you cannot
sleep
because of fan noise! For multi room installations then it is worth
planning
ahead and putting the refrigeration pipework in and making sure that the
condenser (outdoor) unit can run multiple indoor units.

Finally, this will not be a diy install - you will need to find a competent
contractor to handle this. If you can post your location I could get you a
short list of contractors supplied by a A/C distributor I work with if this
helps.

Subject: RE: [ukha_d] Air Con

Does anybody know If it is poosible to get an air
conditioning unit that doesn't look quite as
industrial as this, may be recessed into the ceiling
or even better where all you see is the grille for the
vent the rest being hidden in the roof above

Is it possible to get units that have more than one
outlet??

Am in the process of relocating and aircon for my
office/study and at least the master bedroom is on the
list for the new house, but it would be good if this
could be extended easily later on to include more
bedrooms
