I think I'll try and get a demo going with sockets via some Javascript on
the page.
At least then we are not getting into a big development project involving
the PPC,
fingers crossed, it should work on any Java capable browser....

Can you use java? A little Java applet sat on the web page could do this
easily - you just talk sockets back to the server. The applet could be as
simple as just displaying whatever text is sent to it.
