RE: XBOX Controller Extension Cables

I saw some XBox-USB converter cables on one of the XBox sites... I wonder
if
you convert the controller cable to USB, extend it with an active cable,
and
then convert the end of the active cable back to "XBox"
connector, if it
would work...

IE, is it just a USB controller with a special plug plugging into a USB Hub
(the console) with a special port?

I can't believe no one has tried yet, but I can't find anything on the web
to this effect.

And I don't have an XBox yet, so I can't try it. Even though I have three
of these active cables... :-(

This may work with an Xbox. However the Xbox extension leads are only
7feet and you can not link more than one together.

I wonder if someone has tried to use a USB repeater?

If they are USB cables, are they USB signals as well? I have
successfully
gone to about 50 feet with three of these:

And if those work with an XBox controller, what about:

Granted I've only done mouse/webcam traffic, not xbox controller
traffic...

They are USB cables and subject to similar length restrictions.

You may be able to use a psu somewhere to give them more juice, but I
don't
know if anyone has done that yet.
