RE: Anyone know of an..... ?

I asked a question that may not be relevant and I apologise.. Its not even
for me...

but !!

I use a radar myself which is legal and for very good reason.. Research has
found that using one of these items in your vehicle makes you very aware of
your speed (and any automatic doors, traffic lights etc etc... ) and
therefore makes you less likely to have an accident/cause one by breaking
too abruptly upon noticing a camera... Funny I should bring that last bit
up
as I saw on the A12 on my way home last night a completely destroyed Alfa
Romeo and a rear ended Focus with 2 ambulances less than 50 yards in front
of a speed camera... How Ironic that I should start up this morning to
loads
of people bemoaning the breaking of the law using these devices... IT IS
THERE TO REMIND ME !! NOT TO BREAK THE LAW !!

Being an ex-paramedic you could say that I know how to drive and ALL of the
consequences of driving dangerously, I also have a friends in the Police
force (inc. traffic.. (yes they do have a few friends)) and a lot of them
own these devices due to them being "safety devices"

ok rant over but hey !! I am a motorcyclist who just had to ride 50 very
cold mileS into work with snow in April only to be confronted by a stack
load of Judgementalism (is that a word ?? It should be)

I have thoroughly enjoyed learning from this site and recieving great help
in the past.. Hope you all have a very nice day, I am off to terrorise my
dept now ...

Yours (miffed) Mark H..

Yo Brian ... If you object then delete the mail ... I delete large
quantities of messages that I don't want to read. There's lots of off topic
stuff discussed here.

Pfft!

Really? Many speed cameras seem to be placed so as to simply generate
revenue. If speeding cameras were located solely in places such as by
schools and pedestrian crossings then I wouldn't object however there is
one
just up the road from me here which is located right where a 60 limit drops
to a 50 limit quite some distance from any "pedestrian" access
... It can
only have been placed there to generate revenue.

Speeding cameras are becoming excessively prevalant now that the local
authorities get to reinvest the proceeds of the fines. I have no desire to
buy one of these items myself but I can delete any emails from people
discussing them if I don't agree with them.

I don't see anyone actually saying that they wish to disregard the law ...
However we all do exceed speed limits at times and I'd rather someone was
watching out for cars and pedestrians rather than trying to identify hidden
speeding cameras especially now they can be painted less conspicuously!
