Well as long as it works....I was a bit concerned about the
"ballum"
thing they have fitted as when cable was first installed I was getting
errors so called the engineer out, he tested the line, fitted this
"choke" thing and been alright ever since. Something to do with
the
signal strength being weaker the further you are away from the source,
at least that is what the engineer said.
(can you tell I can not remember the name of this ballum/choke/ thing)

Brian,

I am with telewest so have the same kinda setup.  I have the cable
coming from the box on the wall going up into the loft, and split there
fro cable modem, then the second feed for the TV coming down conduit to
the TV.

Not to sure if you could move the box legally cause that's the
termination between you and the cables in the road.

Hi all,

I have at last finished my loft conversion and although I say it myself
I am very pleased!
All the kit nice a tidy, and just getting everything working satis.

Just one question, my NTL cable comes in the house into a small box
where it is divided into TV and Cable Modem, I have a cable running
from
this up into the loft for the modem and was about to install another
cable for the TV but was wondering, can I legally move said NTL box up
into the loft and distribute it from there? that way saving having to
lay in another cable at this time as I will be moving the TV etc into
the loft whilst I blitz the living room so do not need anything down
there, joys of living alone...

I can lay in new cables as and when I please so future proof is not an
issue (yet).
