Fine, your expeience is OK at the moment ... How old are those drives
because if you do some digging you will find a very high failure rate
once the drives get to about 30 months old. I will no longer touch 7,200
rpm drives unless I absolutely need to because of the amount of heat and
noise they produce. The 160Gb Maxtor drive that is in my server runs
*SILENTLY* and at 37 degrees even though it is adjacent to a couple of
other 5,400 rpm drives ... The 7,200rpm Seagate Barracuda that is in
there needs to be on its own and have a fan blowing across it or it
locks up the IDE bus after about three days.

OK ... I have heard the horror stories about Scan but I have to say that
in my own personal experience they have yet to piss me off or fuck up.

I've ordered from them a few times and I have yet to find them any worse
than any other suppliers ... For instance Dabs / IBM will not replace
the 20GB IBM Travelstar that is in my lappy that dies roughly every
three months as it spawns more bad sectors. Apparently the arbiter of
what is faulty is their disc diagnosis software which - as long as it
can map out those bad sectors - says the drive is OK!
