However, before you start spending money, be aware that there are many
people who have tried both Showshifter and TiVo, and all of them think that
TiVo is way better.

I have yet to find a Showshifter evangelist who has actually TRIED the
competition. The arguments against TiVo always come from those who've never
used it.

So this drive looks the buisness, what would any of you recommend if say I
wanted to use this and turn my PC into a video recorder so I could record
real time video to this type of drive?

Ideally with a timer option.
