To record video to a PC DVD drive in real time - WAS RE: [OT] New DVD Writer - does + and -

So this drive looks the buisness, what would any of you recommend if say I
wanted to use this and turn my PC into a video recorder so I could record
real time video to this type of drive?

Ideally with a timer option.
