Frank,

If you are using the same PC to send this mail, that's fine ;)

All you need is a TCP-IP stack, (needed to talk to the internet anyway)
and
a bound interface (the dial up networking adapter counts)

Try downloading the apps, (especially the hub, as it needs no
configuration)
and let me know what happens when you run them.
