There are several power meter sensors which count the meter rotations, but for the odd device you could use a simple transformer to induce current in a second circuit and then measure it with a analogue port, add a analogue multiplexer and you can monitor 8 or 16 devices from one IO pin.

In my case I just used a accurate current clamp

I was interested in logging power used, but could not come up with a way of interfacing it into the PC.

Anyone have any ideas?

My 'leccy bill is a whopping £22 per month.

On an OT note, are you the guy who took the engine out of a 1.8 carlton and put in a great big v8 and sorted the car to look similar to a holden ? or a car from Aus used in track racing? .. just wondered.

Blimey, I wish mine was as low as that. Last bill was 292 GBP and I only
have 2 PC's running 24/7 and only 1 has a monitor that is off all the time
except for maybe 1-2 hours a night.

I blame the tumble drier and the kettle (SWMBO has a habit of filling the
bloody thing nearly full just to make 1 cup of tea which I keep nagging HER
about)

PC's are not that expensive to run 24/7 if you use them each day because
powering them up and down is not good for reliability in my opinion. This
was the reason we used to keep the ROV (submersible) switched on 24/7
offshore as the old way was to power it down when not working but this
caused so many problems itself.
