If you still have an Orange contract, they'll give you an unlock code
for a "small" fee (between 20 and 30 quid). Might be easier than
faffing about in the long run.

Alternatively, try an independent mobile retailer. Not sure how
convenient it is for you, but both Camden and Tottenham Court Road
have shops advertising "unlocking services".
