Nah, I had zip success with ones I ordered as a trial so gave up on the idea. By co-incidence, I needed to burn a CD for friend so used the last 2x speed DVD-R I had left over last night. It failed with a buffer under-run burning at 2x speed. The 1st burn failure I've had. I'll wait for the next generation writers for faster speeds.

A quick update on the info I posted a while ago below....

 

After all my testing, finding a compatable DVD-R and buying 50 disks, Datasafe changed the dye formulation on their branded whitetop disks and didn't tell anyone. Bottom line is the 50 that arrived are now incompatable with my player. Damm and I've got 40 unopened left! I only found out after burning a couple.

 

They have realised they've dropped a clanger and re-released the original dye formulation as Datasafe Classic Generation 3 DVD-R. I'll order a couple of these to see if they are OK and post back my findings.
