Re: Install tips please!
when my brother had Sky installed in his house the CT100 cable had
already been run by the builder and left coiled in the loft space as
he wanted the dish high up.
When Sky bloke arrived he first said no to using the cable as it was
supposedly the wrong type and diameter, overcame that rubbish, then
he put his head in the loft and said "I'm not going up there it's not
boarded out" we eventaully convinced him that we were perfectly
competent to drill a whole through the wall and pass him the cable,
although we did get a minor lecture on the fact that this was not the
way things should be done!
He did however refuse to use the "feed through face plates" I got
>from
the boxes being damaged when using these, aledgedly due to the fact
that the feed through introduces additional attenuation which causes
the receiver front end (Grundig box, which has since blown up after a
lightning storm) to have to work harder and thus reduce it's
operating life to a matter of weeks.
If we insisted on using the feed through the Sky warranty would
apparantly be void.
In our case perserverance and folding stuff with the queens head on
overcame most of the objections from the installer on the day
