been some previous posts on here and/or on the UKHA_Tivo group I think.
But
the main source has to be the Tivo underground or UK forum on the main
Tivo
forum, and the DealDatabase forums (even more techie).
Now I wonder why you have an interest in CCTV recording
?? (which is
what I use some of my Tivos for too !)...

Tivo's CAN'T be used as a normal
TV recorder without a subscription

afraid - they go into what is known as a 'boat anchor'
mode when the
initial
setup data expires and this is about all they are useful
for.
There are some workarounds to
this that are discussed on the various
mailing lists - mainly aimed at recovering a base level
of functionality
for
manual recording though.
