RE: Roomba Update

Peter,

In order to work out the landed price, you do the following:

- Take the US price

- Add postage and packing

- Add the import duty (yes - you really pay import duty on the P&P)

- Add the VAT on top (yes - you really pay VAT on import duty!)

- Add a handling charge from the courier

Goods price, and P&P you hopefully know.

To find out the duty rate, you'll need to phone the HMC&E helpline on 0= 845 010 9000
- they are very helpful - if you explain what the goods are, they'll give y= ou the duty rate AND the duty code - if possible, the vendor will put this = code on the package

VAT is 17.5%

The handling fee, which the courier will charge you in addition to the ship= ping cost, is normally a tenner.

... then add the costs of shipping inside the UK to the ultimate recipients= .

What we've generally managed on past BBs is that, when one's taken all this= into account, for BBs, a $200 sale price item in the States, will be =A320= 0 delivered, duty paid in the UK...

So, if you can get a 10% discount, then that'll work out about =A3200 per i= tem, including delivery to the end user's house.

M.

All

I'm finally making progress with the US suppliers, and am just waiting for<= BR> confirmation of shipping costs.  I know others have already done this = sort
of thing, so can someone let me know the import tax/duty we'd have to pay o= n
these things, so that I can work out a final cost?

Currently the best discount I can get is 10%, but I'm still trying to up this to at least 12.5%.  They currently have stock, but will be gettin= g
another large delivery in around 4/11, so that's the date I'd be working to=
to get all the payments sorted out.  The company I'm speaking to ships= over
2000 of these a month, so they don't really need to offer much of a
discount!

One obvious consideration is that the charger is a US style 2-pin jobbie -<= BR> I'm trying to confirm whether it's a multi-voltage one, or, if not, what th= e
output is.

I'll keep you posted...

Pete
