I'ld be happy with just the PIC code if you are willing to share it.

Other than that some way of programming it without using the switches
like
a small controller panel.  Certainly the most flexible is for some
sort of
serial/RS485 communications.  Probably the most flexible way would be
to
use RS485 and xAP enable it.
