Re: New site for Infrared Remote Manager

Hi Nik,

I intend to make it available in the future to be ordered online, but in the mean time you can try:
http://www.zapway.de/e_produkt1.htm for the receiver, but I still think that someone can build one for you, using my schematic.

As a transciever you can use a simple IR LED connected to the TX Pin trough a resistor and a diode. Nothing more.
Les than 5 EURO to build one, including DB9-F serial connector.
You  don't need soldering skills to build it.

You can send the IR signal to all the rooms using a singleshielded wire (for TxD based) or even unshielded(for DTR based interface). You only need an output transistor to drive one LED in each room.

Another wireless solution is to use some dedicated devices like the ones produced by Allcad in Spain (http://www.alcad.net) and send the IR signal trough the MAINS line (power lines) or by RF.
I tested all of them and the MAINS solution is best in concrete buildings. You only need to be on the same phase. It is something like transmitting X10 signals.

Best regards,
Dan

Subject: RE: [ukha_d] New site for Infrared Remote Manager

Dan,
I see on the web site that there are a few types of hardware that are supported, but I see just a schematics. Do you know if anyone is seeling those things already soldered, I am not good at soldering? Can you also recommend me, which of them you consider is the best. I am a complete newbie on this topic, so I don't even know what to pay attention to.
Most of these devices connect to serial port of PC and work in a single room. What if you need to control devices in multiple rooms? Autom8it probably should not have problems to send commands to different rooms, but what do you need on hardware side?
Cheers,
Nik

Hi all,

With a great help from Jim, you can now acces the Infrared Remote Manager Web page from a new location:

The old page (http://www.geocities.com/tdanro) will still be available for a while.

Best regards,
Dan
