RE: Wiring Path using chimney
Yes, all my CAT5e runs go down my chimney's.
I was not sure of the legalities of this, both from planning permission and
safety, no problem with each.
I was working on site at Huntingdon District Council for 3 months and got
to know who to talk too and they were all very helpful.
NOTE....
All your cables will be plastered with soot! 'orible....
I had the chimney "cleaned" but it made little difference. I let
the cables go downwards and clean them where they emerge and then fasten
the ends up into the loft.
Another warning is the cables get very heavy! make sure they do not drag
over bare bricks.
Oh, don't use the fire place for a fire :-))))))

Subject: [ukha_d] Wiring Path using chimney
Hi,
Fingers crossed we should have a house in a few months that will need
total
re-wiring, so i am trying to plan ahead for the HA wiring side of
things.
Has anyone used a chimney as a cable route before? If so how did you
seal
the chimney from the elements?
Cheers, Des.
