Paul,

Out of interest, how are you planning to control the AV room PC, and what s= oftware will you be running on it?

I'd imagined that the AV room PC would be a silent, diskless thing (CF boot= + lots of RAM) that ran streaming audio/video over the network.

I was imagining that I would control it from a laptop / iPaq via a built in= webserver, rather than directly.

Of course, finding a PC with enough horsepower to stream DVDs, while reamin= ing silent is hard :-(

Looks interesting - just what I need for the AV Room PC. Shame the SPDIF OU= T is on the front of the box rather than the back - It would seem logical t= o keep the permanently connected bits on the back (i.e. connection to an Am= p)
