It depends how your comfort is wired, but I don't think it proves it
either way.

Comfort uses 2 exchange wires to tel-in and provides 2 wire
connection to tel-out. You are then supposed to either: connect a
master socket to tel-out, which will generate the third-wire ring, or
you're supposed to connect the third-wire on the exchange side
straight through, bypassing comfort.

I'd have thought that any ring should be independent of comfort if
using the third wire, but I suppose an intermediate master socket
might make a difference.

Ringer is on BT socket terminal 3 if you want to experiment.
