Not sure exactly what you mean by limited current...
Do you mean an RCD protected socket or an isolating transformer socket
(like a shaver point)?

What happens when you test it from another socket?

LD11 will buzz a bit. The more it dims the more if buzzes. Turn lamp full
on and see if buzzing reduces, if so then it is probably the LD11.
Most cheap dimmers buzz in this way. I have all my LD11's under the stairs
in an enclosure. When this is shut you don't hear anything.
If possible put it in a box and hide the box!!

Out of interest does the sensor switch work well?
