RE: Re: THX and music replay...

Mike,

The point of the CD12 example was about specialisation extending to the ver= y high-end.

I was trying to suggest that the ideal source for CD replay was a dedicated= CD player, not a DVD player, no matter how good.

I'm in the fortunate position to have been able to sped a reasonable amount= of time listening to the CD12 over the last couple of years, with a number= of different pairings... and I don't find ANY DVD player as good for music= :-)

Of course, if the fairy godfather appeared and granted me a single hi-fi co= mponent as a wish, I still might go for a DVD player, but that's more to do= with the fact that I tend to spend more time watching films than listening= to music :-)

Regards,

Mark

Now, I'd be extremely happy if I had a Meridian 800 series for playing musi= =3D

c, particulary if paired with the Meridian active speakers.  I also th= ink yo=3D

u will find that Meridian themselves consider the 800 to be just as good fo= r=3D

music as for home cinema.

I also suspect that most people would have extreme difficulty in distinguis= =3D

hing the Meridian set-up with Meridian amps and passive speakers from the L= i=3D

nn CD12/Chord combination.  The fact that the Meridian can be used wit= h Meri=3D

dian *active* speakers could well give it somewhat of an advantage.
