xAP OSD for TiVO plus xAP Clock will provide a timestamp from an
external time source (somewhere on network) on the screen. The big
question is: does TIVO record the OSD display info by default or can
it be persuaded to?

Similarly, TiVO web provides a full function remote control.
Providing xAP enabled transport controls for the TiVO should be
relatively easy -- then you could trigger recording based on any
appropriate xAP event (Comfort event, IR, X10 whatever)
