I guess it depends on whether he wants to take a risk on a second hand unit= ?
Personally, not being very experienced in Home Cinema type stuff, I'd rathe= r
spend 1200 notes on something that I *know* will work well (from all the good reviews it's got), plus have the assurance of guarantee etc with a
known vendor.  Just a personal opinion, no offence to any second hand = shops
/ ebay traders etc.....

I've also been looking at the Sony HS1 (I think that's the model) that's go= t
similarly good write ups to the Panasonic.  Street price on that is ab= out
=A31300 - =A31400, and it has the benefit of a "side shot" mode, = so it can be
positioned off centre (up to 45 degrees) from the screen.
