Showshifter can....
 
Control sky and ntl digiboxes with redrat2 or some other hardware I can't remember. Support is builtinto last 3-4 versions
 
Be controlled by infra red. Either standalone systems, Girder supported systems, X-10 controllers if you play with girder, or a bundled Hauppauge wintv remote if you got one with your card.
 
Capture Losslessly if you have fast enough HD - raid 0.
 
My showshifter box is silent as the drives are inside noise suppressors, I have a quiet power supply and a zalman flower cooler on the processor.
 
The only thing I want to make my tivo killer comlete is....
 
A nice tivo looking box..
