New Site is LIVE!

Today sees the re-launch of the "Automated Home UK" website.

Re-branded with an all-new look and feel, the site is now fully
interactive.  Visitors, manufacturers and suppliers can now add
their
own stories to the NEWS page.

All the other old favourites are still here like the WIRING GUIDE and
the REVIEWS section which currently holds over 60 gadgets, from
whole-house controllers through all-in-one remote controls to wireless
home networks.

The power of the new site is in its construction.  Almost every part
is
stored in a database and therefore searchable.  Check out the ARCHIVE
to
search by Topic, Section or Author.

Each story on the NEWS page has a topic icon.  If you click on that
icon
(for example New Products, X10, Security etc) you will see all the
other
stories with that topic listed.

One of the other great features is that anyone can now add their own
story to the NEWS database.  Submissions will be reviewed by our
editors
and approved for publication to the site providing they are suitable.
You can also submit your own product reviews in the same way.

I'll be sending more messages over the coming days explaining some of
the other cool features.

The new site has been created with PHPSlash.  Stuart Grimshaw has
done
all the custom coding (and is available for similar projects
www.smgsystems.co.uk).  I am indebted to him for all his hard work
and
ideas, and to Li from www.laser.com for his continued support and free
hosting of the site!
