RE: Costs for Programming a Pronto

As regards the charging I suppose it depends on how much he can get out
of the customer.

Regarding both the programming and device, I was a very early adopter of the Pronto, and had one on pre-order with the first US supplier to get
stock.

I do program per device BUT I also include additional buttons on there
for frequently accessed functions from other devices such as amplifier
settings, TV aspect ratios etc.

I'm in the process of recoding my ccfs for the Marantz RC-5200 which can do multi-room out of the box. It also has a hard button cursor and
larger user addressable screen, and as a result I can get all of my
frequently used buttons on a single panel for each device (with the
Pronto, I am constantly switching between the numeric pad and the
cursor.

Hello all,

I am looking for some advice and guidence.

I friend of mine runs a high end Home Cinema and Home Automation shop,
more and more ofted he is selling Systems and the customers are totally
confused with the remotre control systems. So he has decided to sell
them prontos programmed for their system, and this is where I come in.

He as asked my if I will do the programming, for a charge of course.

How much should I look to charge?

Most of these systems are going to have between 3 and 6 devices and the
programming usually involves around 2 hours at the customer site
tweaking the setup.

I did a simple setup last night for him, consisting of a Plasma, DVD,
Amp and Video with 2 hours setup at the customers house and he paid me
=A3150. I am just trying to arrange a more formal agreement so that if I have to do more work then I get paid more. Should I charge per device?

Any ideas and thoughts?

Regards

Ben
