RE: Web-surfing in the bath...
Sorry,
When I said "most loft conversions are a waste of money", I was
r=
eferring to the area where I live.
House prices down here (Crawley) are among the lowest in the South-East
(wh=
ich is why I live here). Building work, however, seems to attract London
ra=
tes.
I've seen a number of people locally carry out loft conversions on, say,
th=
ree-bed houses, that cost =A320k. The problem is, these loft conversions
on=
ly add =A315-20k to the value of the house, wheras the owners seem to
belie=
ve that they will make a three bed house as valuable as a four bed
locally,=
and are rather upset when they sometimes don't even get their money back.<=
BR>
I've discussed this at length with the estate agent I've used for most of
m=
y recent property purchases, and come to the conclusion that a loft
convers=
ion only makes financial sense in the house I'm actually living in.
Obviously, in London proper, the economics are wildly different, and loft
c=
onversions are very good investments in areas with Clapham and
Wandsworth.<=

Mark,
Whan I was refurbing my main bathroom a month or two ago, someone sent me
a=
link (which I've subsequently lost, sorry), to a website of a company that
=
specialise in bathroom tiles with screens in them.
Would whoever sent it to me be kind enough to chip in here please...
Incidentally, what do mean that most loft conversions are a waste of
money?=
that certainly doesn't seem to be the case in my experience...
