s-vhs to SCART cable

Maybe someone can answer me this.

I have A/V amplifier and plan to connect S-VHS out to SCART AV1 on TV. A/V amplifier has only S-video out and TV has only SCART in so I don't have much choice really.

My idea is then to connect all the video sources to AV amp and swithch them there.

Now I would like, when I watch TV and turn on the AV amp and DVD, TV channel to automatically switch to AV1. I know that for that feature, signal has to be sent to pin 8 on SCART. When I spoke to the guy at QED (cable manufacturer), he told me that it's not possible to get that signal from S-VHS.

Is he correct, or can i get it by using some tricks. I am fed-up using 3 remotes (don't mention Pronto please - cables are still cheaper).
