I have a macro....... I fill coffee maker with water and coffee, switch
local switch on, then press switch on kitchen timer controller thingmy
(thanks Homebase! :) )

Macro then fires which announces "Coffee maker activated"..... delay 10
mins, announcement "Coffee is now ready"..... delay 2 hours, check if
off command has been received, announce "Coffee pot will be switched off
in 5 mins"... delay 5 mins, switch off..... :)

As for ironing...... erm, I think my iron has a thermal cutout thing if
its left in the same position for X minutes..... but I'm not really one
for ironing...... normally just go with the crumpled look I'm afraid......!
